Julie Braná
RecordersJulie Braná studied the flute at the conservatory in Pilsen. In 2001 she received her master’s degree with distinction at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg, Germany, having studied under Peter Holtslag. She completed the study programme in 2004 by receiving a concert certificate with distinction. She also plays the baroque and classicist flute which se studied in 2001-2003 at the Hoschschule für Kunste in Bremen, Germany, with Marten Root. During her studies she took part in master classes taking place both in the Czech Republic and abroad and led by prominent personalities including Peter Holtslag, Marion Verbruggen, Barthold Kuijken, Karel von Steenhoven and Wilbert Hazelzet.
Since 2003 he has been teaching the recorder at the Conservatory in Pilsen and since 2006 also at the Prague conservatory, where she is the head teacher of traverso since 2017. Julie Braná collaborates with the harpsichordist Edita Keglerová and the Pilsen-based recorder trio Tre Fontane.
She performs and records as a member or soloist of leading early music ensembles in the Czech Republic, most frequently with Collegium 1704 under the leadership of Václav Luks, but she is also often invited as a guest by other ensembles such as the Collegium Marianum, Musica Florea, Ensemble Inégal and Baroco sempre giovanne. Since 2016 she has been a soloist and the first flutist of the renowned German orchestra Concerto Köln and collaborates with other orchestras abroad including the Akademie für alte Musik Berlin or Dresdner Barockorchester.
About The Class
Welcome are students of the conservatory, advanced students of ZUŠ or their teachers and other interested persons who know at least soprano and alto recorder at a higher level. Tenor and bass flute players are especially welcome. :-)
Suggested Repertoire
Recorder music of the 15th to 18th centuries. Newer compositions are also possible according to agreement with the tutor (please send any suggestions to registrace@early-music.cz).
