Kateřina Ghannudi
Historical harps


Born in Prague where she studied the harp and the Bohemian “hacken-harfe” with Jana Střížková. After completing her Master degree with full honors in Cultural studies from Charles University in Prague, she has dedicated herself to mastering early harps and in 2012 she graduated with honors at the Conservatory of Verona.

Her performing career includes both soloist and chamber music projects, as well as collaborations with several orchestras and ensembles specialized in a historically informed performance. She regularly performs as a singer-harpist with Quintana, Ensemble Micrologus, Anonima Frottolisti, In Cordis Ensemble and harpsichordist Monika Knoblochová and as a basso continuo player with La Folia Barockorchester, lautten compagney Berlin, Czech Ensemble Baroque,Collegium 1704, Musica Florea & Cappella Mariana. Kateřina has taken part in many renowned music festivals including:Concertgebouw Amsterdam, De Bijloke Gent, Wratislavia Cantans, KKL Luzern, Smetanova Litomyšl, Teatro Olimpico di Vicenza, Innsbrucker Festwochen, Händel-Festspiele Halle, Wigmore Hall, Teatro Nacional di San José (Costa Rica)…She has recorded various cds of early music for SONY Classic, Tactus, Glossa, Supraphon, This Play Classic and Arta.  Kateřina is also teacher of historical harps at Accademia Resonars in Assisi.

About The Class

Students with any kind of harp and interest in repertoire from Middle Ages to Baroque are welcome. Please, state the kind of the instrument you are coming with (gothic, renaissance, double, triple baroque harp, folk-harp) in the application. According your interest and instrument we will deal with music and technique of the respective period. In case of baroque harp, we can deal also with the basics of basso continuo and the Spanish harp-tablature.

Suggested Repertoire

Any harp-playable repertoire from the Medieval to Baroque, suitable for the Baroque harp (e.g., Lucas Ruiz de Ribayaz, Diego Fernández de Huete, Giovanni Maria Trabaci, Ascanio Mayone, Girolamo Frescobaldi, Giulio Caccini, Claudio Monteverdi, John Dowland, Henry Purcell, Georg Friedrich Händel, etc.).

Of course, the instructor will be happy if students bring their own pieces they wish to work on.
