Irena Troupová
Solo singing

Renowned Czech soprano Irena Troupová first gained international recognition in the field of historically informed performance of early music. Since the 1990s, when she lived in Berlin, she has performed on stages across Europe, collaborating with prominent figures such as T. Hengelbrock, H. Arman, and J. Riffkin, as well as ensembles like Orpheon and La Morra, among others. In the Czech Republic, she has worked with J. Tůma, B. M. Willi, M. Knoblochová, and ensembles including Ensemble Tourbillon and Musica Florea, to name just a few. Over time, she expanded her repertoire to encompass Romantic and modern art songs and operatic works. She has appeared in concert series by the FOK, the Czech Philharmonic, and the Prague Philharmonia under conductor Jakub Hrůša, as well as with the Plzeň and Hradec Králové Philharmonic Orchestras. She has been a frequent guest at festivals such as Prague Spring, The Leoš Janáček International Music Festival and Concentus Moraviae.

Her discography includes the internationally acclaimed recording of Bohuslav Martinů’s opera Le jour de bonté for the Arco Diva label, which also released her complete recordings of Viktor Ullmann’s songs (Schwer ist’s, das Schöne zu lassen), orchestral songs by Geraldine Mucha, and the complete song repertoire of Hans Winterberg. Troupová also collaborates with contemporary music ensembles, such as Brno Contemporary Orchestra under Pavel Šnajdr, Orchestr BERG, Prague Modern, Konvergence, and Ostravská banda, as well as with contemporary composers including M. Kopelent, J. Dušek, P. Koeszeghy, M. Štědroň, P. Kotík, and V. Kubička. Her dedication extends to the music of other interwar composers, including Schulhoff, von Hannenheim, Herschkowitsch, and Klein, performing their works at festivals in the Czech Republic (Prague Spring, Everlasting Hope, etc.) and abroad (Bayreuth, Berlin, Munich, Vienna).

Irena Troupová currently teaches at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts (JAMU) in the Department of Organ and Historical Performance Practice. She is a sought-after tutor at international early music courses.
