Shalev Ad-El , former music director and chief conductor of Israel’s highest ranking chamber orchestra, the NKO. Graduated from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague in 1988. As a soloist he has played with most of the leading orchestras in Israel including the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra. Ad-El frequents some of the world’s most prestigious venues such as Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Hall, Suntory Hall, Berlin Philharmonic, etc. He is a member of Il Gardellino, Berlin Philharmonic Stadivarius Soloists and the music director of Accademia Daniel and Oslo Baroque Soloists.

From 1997-2007 Ad-El acted as a regular guest conductor and director of a music series of the Halle Philharmonic orchestra. 2009-2010 he has been principal guest conductor of Bogota Philharmonic and 2013-2017 of Hanoi Philharmonic. Other conducting engagements include Berlin Symphony, Berlin Kammerorchester des Konzerthauses, Hong Kong APA orchestra, Israel Symphony  (Israel Opera orchestra), Israel Chamber Orchestra, Jerusalem Symphony, SCMF orchestra Sydney, Bangkok Symphony, Panama National Symphony, Rio de  Janeiro Unirio orchestra, Peruvian National  Symphony, Philippines Philharmonic and  Albanian Radio Orchestra. Shalev Ad-El already recorded over 80 CD's for labels such as Deutsche Gramophone ,Chandos, Denon, Accent and CPO.

​Ad-El held teaching positions at the  Dresden Academy for Early Music , Brno Masaryk University and Boston-University.

In 2008 he was awarded the German FASCHPREIS for his lifelong contribution for reviving central-German music.

About The Class

The class is for advanced and at least partly experienced professionals and academy students who are willing to go deeper in the art of continuo playing, accompaniment, chamber music and solo playing with orchestra.

Suggested Repertoire

Continuo, continuo, continuo, and any solo repertoire of 17th & 18th century. Students are encouraged to bring their own compositions they wish to work on.
