Dear ISSEM members,
we would like to inform you on the Musical Rendez-vous Valtice 2017 programme and some important organisational news. During the last years, the original series of mainly tutors‘ concerts turned into a regular festival programme of more than just regional importance, which offers the public top early music performances.
We would like to keep the concerts on a high quality level, and therefore, we had to introduce rather symbolical, low fees to be paid for certain programmes by the ISSEM members.
The fees apply for the guest concerts, the tutors‘ concert remain free.

Next International Summer School fo Early Music will take place from 8th to 16th July 2017.

We would like to invite all highly experienced, advanced and good solo singers to take part in the concluding performance – Henry Purcell’s King Arthur. Have a look into the vocal score (piano score, vocal parts) HERE (H.Purcell – King Arthur, choice of solo vocal numbers), and choose from a large number of short arias, solo entries and recitatives the music you would like to perform. Singing tenor arias by a soprano, and vice versa, is no problem. Exceptionally, it could be done also by basses and altos. Have no fear, do not be shy: let us know in advance what you have chosen. In the evening of the Valtice ISSEM opening day (Saturday, 2.7.) you can attend for free the music and ballet performance of L. v. Beethoven’s Die Geschöpfe des Prometheus (or the Power of Music and Dance) in the Valtice Castle Theatre (see programme HERE). First performance, at 7p.m. is intended for the general public, second performance, at 9p.m., for the course members. Before the second performance, at 8:30p.m., the festive opening of the ISSEM will take part. The theatre‘s capacity is around 230 places. We are happy to announce that the next Summer school will take place from 4th to 12th July 2015. We look forward to new classes and tutors, but our favourite ones as well. The preparation is in full swing!

The accommodation prices went up due to the change of the Viticulture school price policy.
In this year we are also facing space problems, linked to the Valtice Castle reconstruction works. Replacement rooms, offering new possibilities, will be soon available. We also try to deal with the last year’s food problems.
Due to this, the 2014 web information and application forms will be available only by the end of February. We try hard to make the summer courses as enjoyable as in the last years, and hope that this year’s new programme features will be of interest.
