Choral Singing
Graduated in cello playing and conducting from the Teplice Conservatoire and from the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. He further continued his studies at the Dresdner Akademie für alte Musik and attended numerous early music interpretation courses (Chinon, Mainz, Valtice, Basel). In 1992 he founded Musica Florea, to perform music of the 17th and 18th century on period instruments. Among his numerous recordings, the most celebrated are Missa Sanctissime Trinitatis by J. D. Zelenka, Arias from J. S. Bach’s works with Magdalena Kožená and Zelenka’s Melodrama de Sancto Wenceslao. He is often invited to prestigious festivals at home and abroad. As cello player and conductor, he has appeared with Nancy Argenta, Flavio Olivier, Francois Bazola, Susanne Rydén, Simone Standage, Les Musiciens du Paradis, Orlando Consort, Ensemble Philidor, Le Poeme Harmonique, The New Israeli Vocal Ensemble, Musikalische Compagney, Boni Pueri, Regensburger Domspatzen, Pražský komorní sbor, Musica Aeterna, Solamente Naturali, Collegium Marianum, Collegium 1704, Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles, Orquesta Barroca - La Principessa Filosofa, Ganz Europa and others. As a conductor, he often performs music of the Baroque & Classical and Post-Classical repertoire (he contributed in an important way to the rediscovery of sacred music by P. J. Vejvanovsky or P. J. Rittler) and also 19th and 20th century music.
