Lubomír Novák (Czech Republic)

Children Orchestra

Has taught children for over 40 years. In Valtice, he has supervised the children’s orchestra class since the start of the Early Music Summer School ib 1985, without interruption. For 10 years he co-worked with Miroslav Venhoda, in whose ensemble, The Prague Madrigal Singers – he has played the cornet and trumpet nearly all over Europe and in the Czech Republic. With this ensemble he also recorded the „Vianočná omša“ (Christmas Mass) by Edmund Pascha, and „Pragensia“ by Petr Eben. For 15 years, he was a member of the orchestra of the St James’Church in Prague (Cantores Pragenses), where, as a trumpet player, he took part in numerous music performances during the services, and also during the concerts of this ensemble, performing mainly Baroque and Classical repertoire, but also contemporary music. Of great importance here was the performance of Jan Hanuš’s oratorio Matka chudých (Mother of the Poor) in Rome, on the occasion of sanctification of St Agnes of Bohemia. He is the President of the Public Schools of Art Brass Instrument Teachers Department of the Central Arts Council, a counselling body of the Ministry of Education of the Czech Republic. Apart from working with children, he prepares the opening fanfares for each evening concert in Valtice.
