Renaissance and Baroque Flute

Born in America, where she earned B.Mus. and M.A. degrees in flute, voice and music history and began her personal study of Renaissance and Baroque flutes, before moving to London in 1978. She performs around the world with Andrew Lawrence-King and The Harp Consort, Paul O’Dette, Erin Headley, Catherine Mackintosh, Lucas Harris and directs Circa 1500; her award-winning CDs appear on many of the major labels. She holds a PhD from University of Leeds, is an Arts and Humanities Research Council Fellow at Southampton University, and teaches early flutes at Strasbourg Conservatory of Music.

About the class:

The flute class will study Renaissance and Baroque/early Classical traverso, the Baroque students should prepare a solo piece, preferably from the major repertoire, for example, but not limited to: J. S. Bach, Bach sons, Quantz, Telemann, Hasse, Leclair, Blavet, Raoult, Devienne. The Renaissance students should prepare a solo diminution piece and consort music. Chamber music can also be accepted for coaching.
