studied Church-Music, Harpsichord, Organ and Conducting at the Folkwang-Konservatorium Essen, at the Institut Dortmund of the University of Music Detmold and finally at the University of Music, Theatre and Dance Folkwang-Hochschule in Essen. His lectors were so famous musicians as the professors G. Zacher, G. Schneider, H. Kahlhöfer and H. Schernus. As a harpsichordist, organist, partner in chamber music and conductor he gave concerts around Europe. He is leading a class for playing the harpsichord and a class of choir(ensemble) singing since 1989. Helmut Franke is guest at several international festivals of music and juror in music competitions, he gave concerts for example at the „Festival for Sacred Music“ in Prague, with the Philharmonic Society Poznan, in Saint-Deni (Paris) or the Town-Hall-Concerts. Broadcastings, compact-discs and records were produced by several radio stations and labels.
