Györgyi Farkas (born in Budapest in 1973) studied music theory and bassoon on the Béla Bartòk Conservatory in her native city, Budapest. Her interest on historical performing praxis has led her to Basel, where she studied baroque bassoon in the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Claude Wassmer. After her soloists diploma in 1997 she completed her studies with Christian Beuse in Frankfurt. Concerts and tours with well known early music ensembles and orchestras have led her throughout Europe and a number of times to South and North America and Asia. She was playing with the leading early music groups like Les Arts Florissants, Freiburger Barockorchester, Concerto Köln, Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin. Since many years she plays regularly  in Anima Eterna under Jos van Immerseel, English Baroque Soloists and Orchestre Revolutionnaire et Romantique under Sie John Eliot Gardiner and Collegium 1704 under Vaclav Luks. She is teaching baroque bassoon since 2006 in Leipzig on the Hochschule für Theather und Musik Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy.
